Project Overview

Founded in 1941 in Putney, VT when fuel shortages due to World War II made it hard to obtain grocery items, the Putney Coop has always been committed to local farmers, local producers and the community. When GPI was selected as Construction Manager for their expansion, we were proud to have an opportunity to contribute to its long history. Completed in 2019, this challenging project kept the store open to customers during the entire construction process. The construction work was carefully coordinated and was separated by temporary partition walls to allow the store to remain in operation; sealed off from the work areas.  The project included an expanded dining café, additional space for business & finance office, new commercial kitchen, public ADA bathrooms, new walk-in cooler/freezer, HVAC and electrical improvements, and associated improvements.
